Toilette Humour
In 1913, French artist Marcel Duchamp spent a number of weeks in Herne Bay as a chaperone to his younger sister Yvonne, who was studying English. At this time Duchamp had turned his back on painting and resolved to take his work in new radical directions. The result would change the course of art history.
This year Herne Bay will be hosting a festival to celebrate the centenary of Marcel Duchamp’s summer in the town. This cartoon will be featured in an exhibition of Humour In Art.
